Murder in an Hour Games

"Murder in an Hour" Games are murder mystery games that take about an hour to play. Depending on the specific game they can be played by between 3 to 10 or 4 to 12 people. Below I have detailed how the game "Murder in an Hour in Space" would play out. The other games would work in a similar fashion.

Allocating Roles

There is scope in the game for 8 suspects and 4 "Space Investigators" who investigate Captain Moon's murder. So the game can cater for a maximum of 12 people.

The Space Investigators ask all the questions. You can have any number of Space Investigators. So if you only had 9 people, you would have 1 Space Investigator who asks all the questions.

If you only have 8 players, then there would be no Space Investigators, and the suspects would ask the questions of themselves.

Finally, if you have less that 8 players, then some players will have to voice two suspects. If you only have 4 players, then each player will voice two suspects.

Background

The "Background" card is read out to describe the circumstances of Captain Moon's death.

Introductions

Using the front page of their character booklet, each of the 8 suspects introduces himself or herself to the group.

Rounds One, Two and Three

The Space Detectives read out the Question Cards, and the suspects respond as described in their character booklets. These responses will cause the clue object cards to be turned over. In this particular game some programming chips will also cause those suspects who turn out to be robots to perform unusual activities!

Accusations

At the end of Round 3 everyone expresses an opinion on who they think murdered Captain Kelvin Moon.

Deduction Speech

In this particular game robot R2D40 uses the "Super Detective" Programming Chip to reveal who the murderer is.

Confession

Captain Moon's murderer now confesses all.
