Aim of the Game

To be the first postman to complete their mail delivery route and make it back to the Post Office.

Overview

The game board shows the streets of Christmas Town. In the bottom left corner of the board are both the START square and the HOME square. These two squares represent the Post Office. Players will place their playing piece on the START square. Their playing piece represents a postman. The aim of the game is to be the first player to get their postman to the HOME square.

The route from START to HOME takes the player through the streets of Christmas Town and represents the postman’s delivery route. The route will take them, in order, through the following streets:

  • Tinsel Street
  • Bauble Road
  • Angel Avenue
  • Turkey Street
  • Sprout Lane
  • Ivy Row
  • Holly Lane

All the streets contain numbered houses.

The Party Host will roll the dice for all players. The host announces the number rolled and all players move forwards that number of squares. As all the boards have different layouts, the shared number will have different effects for different players.

Along the route are squares that show envelopes. These envelopes contain Christmas cards. The envelopes are addressed to specific houses and have either a green stamp or a red stamp.

If a postman lands on an envelope they must IMMEDIATELY deliver it by moving to the square containing the house that the envelope is addressed to. So for instance if they land on an envelope addressed to “3 Angel Avenue” they must immediately move to the house numbered 3 in the Angel Avenue section of the board.

Envelopes with green stamps will move the player further along their postal route and nearer to the HOME square. Envelopes with red stamps will move them backwards along their route and further away from the HOME square.

There are two “Double the next throw” squares. If a player lands on these then, on the next throw of the dice, they must move forwards double the number rolled.

There are also three “Santa Bonus” squares. If a player lands on one of these they can move forwards three extra squares but only if they say “Ho! Ho! Ho!”

The first player to reach the HOME square is the winner. Players must land on the home square with an exact throw of the dice. If a dice throw would take them beyond the HOME square then they must stay on their current square and wait for the dice to be rolled again.
