Aim of the Game

To be the first player to sit down to a complete Christmas Dinner by obtaining all 12 Christmas Dinner food items from the Christmas Dinner Buffet.

Overview

Each player has their own board which has thirteen squares. There are twelve Christmas Dinner Buffet Item squares and one Start square. The thirteen squares are connected by pathways which are coloured blue, green, red and yellow. Each board is unique as to which coloured pathways connect which squares and where the different foods are located. Half the boards are for a traditional Christmas Dinner and half the boards are for a vegetarian Christmas Dinner. This does not affect the play of the game.

The foods that can be found on the boards are:

• Turkey or Parsnip Wellington
• Sausage Stuffing or Chestnut Stuffing
• Pigs in Blankets or Stuffed Mushrooms
• Meaty Gravy or Onion Gravy
• Roast Potatoes
• Mashed Potatoes
• Brussel Sprouts
• Carrots
• Peas
• Bread Sauce
• Xmas Pudding
• Brandy Butter

Each player also has a playing piece. At the start of the game this is placed on the START square. The player should imagine they have just picked up an empty tray and are about to assemble their Christmas Dinner!

The starting player now calls out one of the four colours. All players must slide their playing piece from the start square along a pathway of the appropriate colour and onto a buffet item square. If this is the first time they have visited this buffet item (and on the first turn of the game this will always be the case) they place a tick by the appropriate item in the GAME 1 column at the bottom of the board. This shows that they now have this item on their tray.

The player to the left of the starting player now looks at their board, decides which colour pathway they want to travel along, and calls out the colour aloud. Again all players must slide their playing piece from their current square along a path of the appropriate colour and onto a new square. If they arrive at a buffet item that they do not yet have on their tray they grab it and place a tick in the appropriate GAME 1 box at the bottom of the board.

Play continues in a similar manner, each guest taking their turn in calling a colour. If a player’s piece is on a square where there is only one pathway of that colour then they are forced to travel along it. If they are on a square where there are two or more pathways of that colour then they can choose which of the pathways to take.

The winner is the first person to assemble a complete Christmas Dinner of all 12 buffet items. They should shout out “CHRISTMAS DINNER!” to let people know that they have won. They should call out as soon as they have obtained their final item. They do not have to return to the start square before declaring their win.
