Aim of the Game
To be the player who, by the end of the game, has collected the greatest value of rental property income and bonuses.
Full Details
Each player has their own playing board. Around the outside of the board are 23 property squares. Players will travel around the board. When they land on a property they automatically purchase it.
The precise arrangement of properties on each board is unique. This allows all the players to use the same dice roll for movement but obtain different outcomes.
The 23 properties are split into 9 different colour sets. These properties are duplicated in the centre of the board which is used as a scoring area. When a property is purchased an ownership token is placed over the property in the centre of the board. This enables a player to keep track of which properties they currently own and which properties are still available for them to buy.
When a player manages to place an ownership on all properties in a coloured set they shout out “RENT” to the Party Host followed by the colour of the set they have completed.
The Party Host will tell them how much rent they have collected and the player records this in the “Rents, Bonuses and Monies Received” section of their board. The player then remove their ownership tokens off the scoring set. This is because if they manage to acquire the set again, they will be able to claim further rent for it.
The black property set represents transport terminals. The grey property set represents utility companies. The rents for these two sets remain constant throughout the game.
The other property sets represent residential property and are coloured brown, blue, pink, red, yellow, green and purple. The rents for these increase as the game progresses.
There are five non-property squares on the board:
- Start Square
- Go to Jail
- Jail/Just Visiting
- Free Taxi Ride
- Shout Out Chance!
These squares all affect the game in specific ways which are explained in the rules.
At the end of the game each player adds up all the rents, bonuses and monies they have collected during the game. The player with the most money is the winner.
Small and Big Party Versions
As well as the extra game boards these versions include a suggested script for explaining the game's rules to your guests.
