Aim of the Game
To identify, via questions, answers and eliminations, which one of 24 pumpkin suspects is the notorious trick or treater "Pumpkin Jack".
Full Details
Each player is the owner of a Private Eye Investigation Agency. They have been asked to identify and apprehend the notorious trick or treater “Pumpkin Jack”. Their agents have been out and created picture profiles of 24 potential pumpkin suspects. These suspects are pictured on the players’ game boards. Each suspect has nine features each of which can be a different colour, shape, value etc. These features are:
- Hat
- Hat decoration
- Eye sockets
- Nose
- Teeth
- Scars
- Bow tie centre
- Bow tie wings
- Nationality
Unfortunately the agents were not able to create complete profiles for each suspect. For every suspect two of the above pieces of information are missing. These missing bits of information differ from board to board.
Players will ask questions to the Party Host along the lines of “Tell us about Pumpkin Jack’s Hat/Teeth/Nationality etc. The Party Host will answer in the form of negative information. E.g. “Pumpkin Jack’s hat is not grey”, "Pumpkin Jack does not have exactly three black teeth".
Using this information players will eliminate suspects from being Pumpkin Jack. Because of the missing information, the multiple players will not always be eliminating the same suspects or indeed the same number of suspects after each answer. This is what allows the game to be played by up to 20 players at the same time.
After a certain number of questions have been asked players are asked to silently decide who Pumpkin Jack is. Then, on the count of three, they all shout aloud the name of the pumpkin suspect they wish to apprehend. The Party Host then reveals which suspect is actually Pumpkin Jack. Those players who arrested the correct suspect score points.
The game is repeated twice more. The player(s) who have scored the most points after the three games wins.
Small and Big Party Versions
As well as the extra game boards these versions include a suggested script for explaining the game's rules to your guests.
Personalised Versions
In the product pictures you can see that in the standard version the pumpkin suspects are named after characters from PartyPDF "Murder in an Hour" games. In the personalised versions the pumpkin suspects will be named after your actual party guests.
