Aim of the Game
To identify which of 24 presents Santa is about to deliver.
Overview
Each player has their own board which shows 24 Christmas presents. Each present is for a specific person. E.g. Robin, Noel, Angela, Holly. Each present is made up of the following components:
- A coloured box
- A bow comprising of a circular centre piece and two end pieces
- Decorations on the upper half of the box. These are a heart, a star and a diamond.
- Decorations on the lower half of the box. These are a triangle, a circle and a cross.
All the above items are one of the following colours:
- Blue (B)
- Green (G)
- Red (R)
- Yellow (Y)
- White (W)
- Black (K)
To assist players who have difficulties distinguishing colours, each component is also marked with the letter shown above to help identify what colour it is.
Each player also has 23 elimination tokens.
The Game Host, pretending to be Santa, secretly selects one of the presents. E.g. Angela’s present. They take the Angela Answer Card and announce “I am Santa and I have here a present. Guess whose present it is!”
Players then take it in turn to ask one of the following three questions which are listed at the bottom of their boards. These are:
- Tell me about the BOX or BOW?
- Tell me about the UPPER shapes?
- Tell me about the LOWER shapes?
The Game Host then looks at the answer card and provides one piece of negative information. E.g.
"Tell me about the BOX or BOW?"
"The CENTRE of the BOW is NOT RED."
All players then use their elimination tokens to cover presents where the centre of the bow is red as these presents cannot be the selected one.
The presents on the different playing boards have been cunningly coloured! Answers will cause different players to eliminate different presents. In fact the answer to some questions may cause players to eliminate a different number of presents to each other. It is this unique colouring that allows 20 players to play the game simultaneously and yet obtain different results. However please be assured that an answer will never cause a player to eliminate the wrong present.
Play continues with questions being asked, answers given and presents eliminated until the Game Host says “No more questions”.
Players then need to look at their uneliminated presents and secretly guess whose present they think the Game Host has. On the count of three they all shout out the name of this person. Because of the diversity of the colouring of presents there should be several different answers.
The Game Host then announces whose present they actually have. Those players who have guessed correctly win. The game can immediately be replayed.
